Summary Profiles
Summary profiles control how your recordings are summarized. Choose from built-in profiles or create your own to match different use cases.
What is a summary profile?
A summary profile is a set of instructions that tells the AI how to structure the summary of your recording. Different types of recordings benefit from different summary formats. For example, a team meeting summary should highlight action items and decisions, while a lecture summary should focus on key concepts and definitions.
You select a summary profile before processing a recording. The profile determines the structure, sections, and focus of the generated summary.
Built-in profiles
ScribeScoop includes five built-in profiles that cover common use cases:
Meeting Notes
The default profile. Produces a summary organized into the following sections:
- Key Topics Discussed
- Action Items (with owners where identifiable)
- Decisions Made
- Overall Summary
Best for: team meetings, standups, project discussions, and one-on-ones.
Lecture Notes
Designed for educational content. Produces a summary with:
- Key Concepts
- Definitions and Terminology
- Examples and Illustrations
- Key Takeaways
Best for: lectures, webinars, training sessions, and educational presentations.
Interview
Structured for interview analysis. Produces a summary with:
- Questions Asked
- Key Responses
- Evaluation Points
- Overall Assessment
Best for: job interviews, user research interviews, and candidate evaluations.
Study Session

Best for: study groups, tutoring sessions, and exam review discussions.
Quick Summary
A minimal profile that produces a concise 2-3 sentence summary of the recording. No structured sections are generated.
Best for: short calls, voice memos, and quick conversations where you just need the gist.
Managing profiles
To manage your summary profiles, open Settings from the sidebar and click Manage next to the Summary Profile section. This opens the Profile Manager.
In the Profile Manager, you can:
- View all available profiles (both built-in and custom).
- See which profile is currently active (marked with an "active" badge).
- Set any profile as the active default by clicking Set Active.
- Edit or delete your custom profiles.
Built-in profiles cannot be edited or deleted.
Creating a custom profile
If the built-in profiles do not fit your needs, you can create custom profiles with your own instructions:
- Open the Profile Manager from Settings.
- Click New Profile.
- Enter a name for the profile (for example, "Client Call Notes" or "Sprint Retro").
- Write the summary instructions in the prompt field. This is the instruction the AI will follow when summarizing. Be specific about what sections you want, what information to extract, and how to format the output.
- Click Save.
Tips for writing good profile prompts
- Be specific about the sections you want. For example: "Organize the summary into these sections: Client Requests, Commitments Made, Follow-up Items, and Timeline."
- Specify the level of detail. For example: "Keep each section to 3-5 bullet points" or "Provide detailed paragraphs for each topic."
- Mention any special formatting. For example: "Use bullet points for action items and include the responsible person in parentheses."
- Describe what to prioritize. For example: "Focus on technical decisions and their rationale" or "Highlight any risks or blockers mentioned."
Editing a custom profile
In the Profile Manager, click Edit on any custom profile. You can change the name or the prompt instructions. Click Save to apply your changes. Editing a profile does not affect previously generated summaries.
Deleting a custom profile
Click Delete on any custom profile in the Profile Manager. If the deleted profile was your active profile, you will need to select a different one before processing your next recording.
Selecting a profile for processing
When you are about to process a recording in the Recordings tab, a profile dropdown appears at the bottom of the panel. Select your preferred profile before clicking Process. The active profile is pre-selected by default, but you can choose a different one for any individual recording.
