Managing Your Work

Managing Recordings

How to browse, organize, and delete your recordings in the desktop application.

The Recordings tab

The Recordings tab in the sidebar opens a file browser that lists all audio files (MP3 and WAV) in your output directory. This is where you manage your saved recordings and initiate processing.

File list

Each recording in the list displays:

  • File name -- The name of the audio file. Long names are truncated to fit the panel.
  • File size -- Shown in bytes, kilobytes, or megabytes depending on the size.
  • Last modified date and time -- When the file was last written to.
  • Processing status -- Files that have been successfully processed show an "OK" badge in green.

Click on any file in the list to select it. The selected file is highlighted and its details appear in the action area below the list.

Refreshing the file list

If you have added, removed, or renamed files outside of ScribeScoop (for example, through File Explorer), click the Refresh button at the top of the Recordings panel to rescan the output directory and update the list.

Processing a selected recording

When you select a recording that has not been processed yet:

  1. A summary profile dropdown appears at the bottom of the panel.
  2. Choose the profile you want to use for this recording.
  3. Click Process to begin transcription and summarization.

If the recording has already been processed, the button changes to View Summary, which opens the cached results in the Results tab.

Deleting a recording

To delete a recording, click the delete button (shown as an X) next to the file in the list. A confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm the deletion.

  • Click Confirm to permanently delete the audio file from your computer.
  • Click Cancel to keep the file.

When you delete a recording, any cached transcription and summary results for that file are also removed from the local database. This action cannot be undone.

Changing the output directory

The Recordings tab shows files from your configured output directory. To change which folder is displayed:

  1. Go to the Capture tab.
  2. Click Browse next to the output directory path and select a new folder.

The Recordings tab will update to show files in the newly selected directory. Recordings in the previous directory are not moved or deleted; they remain on your computer but will no longer appear in the list.

Empty state

If no audio files are found in the output directory, the Recordings tab displays a "No recordings yet" message. This may happen if you have not made any recordings yet, or if you changed the output directory to a folder that does not contain any audio files.
